General Manager (Solana Beach Mauritius – 4 star resort)

We are looking for a people – oriented General Manager with energy, expertise and passion to lead the Solana Beach Mauritius.

Forming part of our group of hotels (www.southerncrosshotels.mu), Solana Beach offers 117 individual rooms, 3 restaurants, 3 bars and several amenities which include a gym, a spa, leisure and sports facilities.

The General Manager should have the ability to balance customer and business priorities. Be able to encourage individual development by nurturing talents and through empowerment. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be a leader with the ability to set examples and foster a climate of cooperation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A

Operations

  • Manage and be responsible for the hotel operations
  • Conduct morning HOD meetings
  • Closely monitor the hotel business reports on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly
  • Inspect facilities regularly to ensure that work areas are maintained to standard and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards
  • Maintain the drive for high quality service

 Human Resources

  • Monitor the Professional Development Plan for HOD’s
  • Set KPI’s to be cascaded by HOD’s trough their respective team
  • Ensure development, training and motivation of all the staff
  • Guide HOD’s to foster a climate of cooperation and effective communication amongst departments

Customer focus

  • Ensure that complaints are attended with consistency, commitment and rapidity
  • Foster a customer excellence culture among staffs to ensure that guests receive superior customer service
  • Responsible of guest satisfaction target
  • Develop and maintain good relationship with guests through frequent contact

 Finance

  • Develop quality improvement strategies
  • Maximize room yield and hotels revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs
  • Manage expenditures and on-going profitability of the hotel
  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel’s annual Operating Budget and Capital Budget.
  • Approve the monthly financial reporting to the COO

A

PROFILE

  • Degree in Business Administration / Hotel Management or relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as Executive Assistant Manager or General Manager in a 4 or 5 star resort
  • Understanding of hotel management best practices
  • Outstanding leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrable aptitude in decision – making
  • Have a knack for problem – solving
  • Participative leadership style
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
